"authentic sounds" "great accompaniment" "excellent balance between vocals and instruments" "good, clear pronunciation; it's so important that folks can understand the words" "I particularly like the simple treatment of "Rest at the End of the Trail" - "compliments on the added parts of "All Through the Night" (this may be my personal favorite!) and "How Shall I Know Him" "Nolan would be proud" - "an excellent album!"
All who know Tommy Doss know him to be an humble and private man, and we
totally respect those
virtues. We extend our special appreciation to him for graciously allowing us to use some of his
comments about this album. Tommy sang with the Sons of the Pioneers for some 14 years continuously
and in recording sessions for several more years, and provided the wonderfully recognizable voice
with the "Bob Nolan" sound in the trio for all those years. Tommy's contribution to the
total sound of the Pioneers during that time was tremendous indeed, and along with Lloyd Perryman.
Ken Curtis and later Dale Warren gave us what many consider the very finest of the finest
traditional Sons of the Pioneers harmonv singing. Thank you. Tommy, for your very kind words.
